Let's see, I've been rescued twice. Once for off-roading with BFG ATs in mud, and just recently from having my alternator die. I've also towed/pulled 2 out. What comes around goes around. Don't let the door hit you in the face canadian (morris).

 

Haha... nice... his friend probably bought a winch so it would be easier to pull him out.

I have no idea how to get myself unstuck so I don't go there... I do enjoy pulling everyone else out though... in my '08 none-the-less

 

Morris your an ***, I'd help someone out in a heartbeat as long as my truck wouldn't be put in danger so to say lol.

First off, I guess I am not experienced but I was driving over the run and got pulled in, it's not like i am going through 6 foot deep mud holes, I was on the frame and needed help and I thought thats what friends were for. I tried for 4 hours before calling somebody to come and help me so atleast I tried. Yes I do need better equipment but I wasn't planning on getting stuck the way I did. I was going only where I have been before without issue so I thought I was safe. Not too many people in my area that I know will actually go out offroading, they only have like show trucks. The guy who pulled me out went and washed and waxed his truck after he pulled me out.

Maybe I should just stop posting every time I get stuck but it might give some of you some entertainment or something. I don't think even MT's would have done anything for me unless they were like 35" because the rut was huge. Funny, the guy who pulled me out, was in 2wd the whole way and I was very surprised. He has a Toyota with body lift, suspension lift and has 35x12.5 tires.

Yes it sucks I get stuck all the time but how does one learn? and Morris, if you went where I did, I am sure you would get stuck too because our trucks are the same except for colour!

I have a rear LS so I don't think I need a rear locker but I think a front locker would be tons of help. I need to lift it and put nice big tires but it is expensive and I have other expenses in life. $5000 just so I can drive for 2 hours a week and not get stuck? Seems a bit crazy but I know it has to be done.

Ohh well, it's 4:30 am here and I just got home so I am off to bed.

 

Just get a 3" body lift and some 33's... that will tide you over fo rnow, and only run you TOPS of 900

 

You need to get you some MT's and a lift.

I went out yesterday again with my friend with a Toyota and like 35" tires. What a night. We left at like 6 pm and got back at 8 pm. I got so stuck that he had to pull me out and then he was like watch this thinking he could go through, well he got stuck and then I had to pull him out. This was the first time I pulled somebody out and it was so easy.

So the way we came ended up being impossible to get back through so we went the hard way out and wow, I am surprised my little truck got through it. I did end up putting a big scratch down the side and I also broke my side mirror off but it was fun. I went through some water right up to the bottom of the truck along with mud but I made it without getting stuck. When I finally got out I was happy and I went to go wash the truck. Well I am done for offroading for a long time. I bet I did more damage and just don't know it yet. I did bottom out a few times but I haven't had time to look to see what else is broke, oh well.

 

There's no need to beat and smash when offroading. I've had mine through some serious **** and never once bottomed it out, hit any big branches, or broken anything. You just gotta go slow and play it smart. You can't ride down in super duty or full size ruts you don't have the clearance. You gotta pay attention and know your limits.

I'd suggest finding a gravel pit or something with some sand, some place where the ground has some give to it and you can get stuck but not too stuck. Buy a sset of come alongs! Under 20 bucks and if you can reach a tree you're out.

The best part about reading all your exploits so far is your will to keep going! You're just trying too hard and your truck isn't ready yet. Get some decent rubber and some extraction gear, and find someone who has experience off road. Follow them and watch their lines. Or get in with them and see how they pick their way through ****. Don't give up man, you just need to learn "finesse" instead of "romp and stomp".

Jeez man your beating up that 08. Why not think about finding a old Ranger and using that as a trail truck?

 

I like seeing your stuck posts Cereal. Keep them coming. I always like pulling people out. It feels good to help someone out. Then when I get stuck they pull me out. So what if one guy gets stuck more often than me. It just gives me an excuse to go get the truck dirty.

also like blackedge said, don't kill your truck, finish making payments before you have too much damage.

 

Well I was struck in the middle of the bush and I had to get out. The way I came was way too bad to go back through and even the Toyota couldn't get through, so we had to go the other way which is not meant for my truck. It has huge ruts and is just really bad but the Toyota got through it no problem and never bottomed out.

I was getting pulled out when I scratched and broke the mirrors, the scratch I knew was going to happen but the mirrors were a total suprise, I just heard a bang and looked and my side mirror was hanging by the wires.

Yes I keep trying but I am having fun and wasting my money so it's ok but I am reading all the advice you people give.

I am getting new tires any time, a winch is next and then a lift. I already washed the truck so I can only take a picture of the mirror and scratch.

The guy who keeps pulling me out, doesn't mind it. He said "It's a reason to take my truck in the bush" but I am going to settle down alot now and not go into the bush until I have atleast tires and hopefully a winch.

I will go for a walk through where I went last night and take pics and then you will see what I had to go through. I am sure it would be easy for a ranger with 33" tires and a superlift or a RCD lift but stock, it's a big too extreme.

So I am done for a bit. I guess it finally sunk in that it's expensive to go offroading with a brand new truck. I am looking for a used off road machine for like $3000-$5000 so I can just use it for beating around the bush.

Well here are about 70 more pictures with a little story so enjoy. Also note, alot of these pics make it look super easy and it doesn't show the entry or exit angles but believe me, I would never do this with a stock Ranger/B4000 if I didn't have to. Alot of the ruts are atleast 1-3 feet deep also.

Also, since I got stuck 100000 times, I walked and took pictures the hole way, it's about 2-3 km to the other road and then another 2-3 km on the way back and thats my journey I did yesterday!
