Motor swap

Okay I don't know where to begin but here it goes. I have a 99 ford ranger 2.5L 4cyl 5 speed and the motor was bad in it and I have another truck it's a 97 ford ranger 2.3L 4cyl 5 speed so I took the motor out of my 97 and im gonna try to put it in my 99 but the crank position sensor was different. So my question right now is can the cps be changed off the 99 motor and put on the 97.
Any help would be useful
thanks. Sam

Welcome to the forum

1997 and 1999 2.3l/2.5l use same crank sensor, same CKP sensor was used from 1995 to 2001 on the 2.3l and 2.5l Lima engines, look up part number, same from 1995 to 2001

1994 and earlier 2.3l used different crank sensor, no conversion is possible

Maybe some one put an older 2.3l lima engine in the 1997, but it would require older 60 wire computer to be used, 1995 and up used the newer 104 wire computer
