cool... ive been on rps this whole time i didnt realize you responded haha

Johnbaum13 05-26-2009 07:35 AM

I hate to say it, but FAIL. Adjusting your toe with the tie rods will NOT correct camber, or even affect the camber at all.

flatblack96 05-26-2009 11:40 AM

hmm thats funny. It seemed to help mine out a lot. And alignment shop told me that the toe being so far off is making the camber really bad when going into reverse, cuz of how I beams are set up it's kind of a flaw. I know adjusting toe is not the solution or how to adjust camber/caster but it does seem to make it not so bad when turning and backing up at least. either way he has to adjust that though with his truck being lower does he not?

Mark98xlt 05-26-2009 08:52 PM

and using drop shocks in the back wont drop you any lower

Smakes 05-27-2009 03:42 PM

honestly.. since u already have the flip kit... just spend the $300 or whatever on drop beams and call it a day. not to mention there will be no change in suspension travel for the front and ur ride will be same as stock up front compared to cutting the coils.

Smakes 05-27-2009 04:09 PM

lol i dont have 375 for drop beams.. maybe after graduation in 2 weeks when i get an assload of money from my family :biggthump

fishy2k8 05-27-2009 07:04 PM

wait the 2 weeks? small price to pay in my book

Smakes 05-28-2009 12:57 PM

Will in need longer u bolts for that flip kit?

I am going to assume no. I have some longer U bolts that I can donate if you need them though

korey89 05-28-2009 01:15 PM

This thread is 6 pages and no one has said anything about cutting coils being a hack? Wow, I'm surprised.

You need to wait until you get money and then do it once, the right way. Cutting coils is for broke Honda ricers.

I think its fairly obvious that chopping coils isnt the best way to lower this truck... Honestly though, i think it turned out OK.

Smakes 05-28-2009 02:14 PM

he who saves pictures of snuffy crushing a poor gen 3 to his computer has no room to say anything to me ever :biggthump

Johnbaum13 05-28-2009 03:34 PM

You don't need longer U-bolts. I reused my stockers back when I had a flip kit.

fishy2k8 05-28-2009 08:41 PM

u dont need longer u bolts, but u do need drop beams lol :biggthump

Smakes 05-28-2009 08:56 PM

lol ill take donations for some

im a week late on this, but no you didnt have full functionality... you had a freakin FIBERGLASS HARD TONNEAU, probably couldnt tow a trailer, and if i remember right your frame cracked.

cute but wrong, frame cracking could not be blamed on the drop was me for not notching, also hauling around sandbags in the winter, and when i went camping alot and had the bed full of wood.

I still used it as a truck when I had to, just because you have a hard cover doesnt mean you cant put stuff in the bed.

you can ask the ohio guys I took that truck places at the meet off road that are alot more rougher than any pics you post on your trips.

so dropping the truck, and not notching caused the frame to crack, had the truck been dropped less or left stock, wouldnt have cracked ... seems like the drop is to blame to me

the thread starter doesnt have much money or expertise, notching the frame isnt exactly a novice task

and i never said anything about off roading, i dont try and compete with anyone in that regard, especially after last week my girl and i went to our "spot" and the hill i normally spin a lot up and have to take a few tries at this one turn, her freakin CIVIC did no problem

but if you do really want to go that route, beat this

I have nothing against lowered trucks and still might do mine one day, but like it or not you do lose some functionality.

Mark98xlt 05-30-2009 11:13 PM

lol

honestly you dont lose anything, if you need to haul anything throw a pair of airshocks on and your good to go.

I drove through 20 inches of snow in my truck with clearance of 5 inches of so from the frame, functioned just as good as stock.

Front and Rear sway bars with a 5" drop. Opposite corner tires on ramps.

The only functionality that I have lost with my truck is the ability to run over curbs. Not a big loss. I still pull trailers with it and regularly load the bed to capacity. When stock it wouldn't go serious off road, and it still doesn't. On road however, it performs much better. Please don't be a mis-informed n00b, and don't start this argument again. Modifying your truck for any purpose, whether lifting of lowering, will change its usefulness, but not ruin it. Lowered trucks don't work well in gnarly terrain, and lifted truck work very well through the high speed corners. Stock trucks do neither.

damm rps is down again. but my truck has 2 bolts and 2 rivits per side. i thought it was suo=pposed to be 4 rivits? do the 98up have the same?

gumby 06-01-2009 08:15 PM

mine was like that on one side only. other side was all rivets. does it matter?
