Sorry to bring up a semi-old thread, but I have a question about this. I was going to do my lowers yesterday but frustration and heat/humidity got the better of me and I stopped right before this step.

I still have the vacuum hubs. once i take the plastic cap off, I should see this large nut for the CV shaft? How do I secure the axle/shaft from spinning? I thought I remembered that my shaft was able to spin when that wheel was jacked up.

now that I've been thinking about it...the axle/CV shaft shouldn't spin as it would be connected to the front differential>driver's axle/cv shaft>tire...which is planted on the ground...right?

I had thought it would be hard since I could spin the rotor...but that was only because 4WD wasn't engaged locking the hub up.

I am not the greatest mechanic...I work in a data center...I do better with servers and cabling!

For anyone that doesn't know (incase they search and find this thread) OEM uppers are welded in. IE, you cant replace them. You must replace the whole upper arm unless you want to modify your stock upper arms.
