This is awesome!

So here is the question on everyones minds. What do we order for coil overs? I read the sadness/madness thread and gathered using a 5 inch travel CO is the best. A 5/8ths rod and a spring rate of 600-750 depending on the truck owners needs/wants. But other than the Fox 2.0 emulsion CO ive found. What else are there out there??

I'm using Strange Engineering S-5206 (5.5" travel) single adjustable units and 10" QA1 springs. The entire setup on these will run you about $400. The only thing you need is extended rod ends. I don't know if any other manufacturers' ends will work, but I designed my own and I can do those for $60/pair.

Just a note on those shocks: I sized mine out for the equivalent ride height of a TB crank. If you want stock height, those would be the S-5205 units (4.5" travel). For a SuperLifted truck, the S-5207 and 12" springs should do.

There are other options as well. I'll try to get a good list and post it here.

I was looking at some on summit racing. Pretty sure I looked at those ones and thought they were what I needed. I am fine with a T bar crank up front. I am slightly cranked anyways and have been looking for a reason for beltech shackles in the rear lol. IIRC you said you are running a 600lbs spring? I do mostly highway driving but see the occasional camp road/forest road so I am thinking a 600lbs spring may be kinda light?

I can't tell you my experience just yet, but the general concensus is that 600 lbs is too light. So you may want to step it up a little. Some guys are running 750-800 lb springs and say that their ride is acceptable.

I read that 750 is the heavy side for a truck with stock bumper and whatnot. Again being a 3.0 I think I can go a little lower. I may try some 700s. Or just say the heck with it and order 650s and 700s and see what happens

So two things: got the new springs today. Can\'t wait to install them and drop the TBs outta the truck!

Second, I have a turn time on the brackets. We\'re looking at 4-5 weeks from order til ship, so I\'m gonna open it up. Stock is on order and parts will start getting cut within the next week. I will reply to all PMs I have received with info.

Edit: forgot to add that they will, in fact, fit in a medium flat rate box, so $11 shipping continental US, $28 Canada.

So last night I got the new springs in, and they should work out well. I cranked the TBs down all the way, but didn't get them out. The ride is definitely improved already. Hopefully I'll get them out this weekend if the weather cooperates, and then I can really see the difference. I'll try to snap a few good pics. All the stock has been ordered, and the production parts will start to be cut next week.

Rides nice. Surprisingly, the 600 lb springs are actually tighter than the TBs, but the ride is better. I honestly can't imagine going with a higher spring rate without having a heavy front bumper and winch setup. The truck stays more level around corners than with the TBs, but doesn't bounce over bumps.

Sorry for the low quality cell pics. Having issues with my regular camera.

I am in love. How tough was it to get the T bars out???

If you say the 600s are a little stiff I might try even a 550 to see whats up with that

Awesome stuff! Your coilover seems to be running pretty deep in its travel? Are you at ride height in this pic?

Getting the bars out isn't hard. I squirted PB Blaster in where it goes into the control arm, and let it sit while I removed the adjustment block. I gave it a few good whacks with a hammer and then just wiggled it out from the back.

The 600 lbs springs ride very well. If you want to try lighter, go ahead, but there is nothing wrong with the ride of the 600s.

And yes, I am deep into the travel right now. Not quite as bad as it looks in that picture, though. I still need to adjust it up some more, and I'm going to put Exploder leafs in. The front is 1" below level right now, but I need a spanner wrench with a better handle so I can crank them up more, or use a spring compressor. At this height, I have about 1.5" of upward shock travel, which translates to about 3.5" of wheel travel due to the position of the shocks on the control arms. Plenty for the highway driving I do. However, I'll be bumping it up at least another inch at the shock, which should give me another 2" minimum of wheel travel when I'm done.

Cool, that should work out good. Do you have any spanner wrench recommendations seeing as yours iss too small?

Any coilover spanner wrench is fine. You can get a pair of them from Summit Racing for like $15. I have an old plumbing spanner wrench, and it's got a real short handle (pretty much just long enough that I can get my full fist around it).

If I didn't have to replace my clutch I would be all over these right now. Looks like I know what I'll be buying when tax season comes around. Great Job dude!

You guys with stock trucks/mild offroading would ride best with a 500lb spring, definately nothing more than 600.. The rest is down to valving
