The shock is the limit "strap", as long as you have stock or oem style shocks the suspension travel should be exactly the same...the sway bar has nothing to do with the travel limit.
My t-bars are really worn and loose (they've been cranked for about 3 years), so when I take my sway bar off I can probably roll my truck going 15 mph if I turn quickly. It rides awesomely, feels smooth, and drives off-road great, but for me is very dangerous on the road. I usually take it off if I know i'll be going wheeling. If you have a decently powered cordless drill and socket adapter, you can have the sway bar off in under 5 min.

I personally don't like not having a front sway bar, the lean is Wayy too much.. (I have my rear removed though, that was a good one to do.)
Keep in mind though, I have an Explorer.. (I don't even think Rangers have a rear sway..)
If I want (with the front sway removed) I can turn and lift one of my front tires off the ground... it's definitely different...
I couldn't justify it off-road though, so I connected it back up and kept it that way.
There's plenty of people that have them removed or disconnected (quick disconnects) though.. so don't feel like a guinea pig if you go for it.. you won't be the only one.
It's all a matter of opinion really, and what you feel comfortable with. I'm sure quite a few things play into the handling changes with the front sway on/off. Like shocks, torsion bar ratings, amount of lift..(if any) and what type of lift..
If you try it, take it slow at first... don't go out and mob... you might find that it's a bit too much for ya... who knows..
Just felt like commenting since I've tried this one..

What's the size on those foxes Matt (sorry if you've got a thread going on em, haven't searched yet, and just hit up the site after a few months away)? I need to do some front end work to find a clunk and figured I'd replace the bilsteins.
