Upper ball joint/control arm- front suspension

2009 ranger 4.0 4wd. Can I replace just the upper ball joint, or do I have to replace whole control arm? I know some vehicles you can’t take the old ball joint out due to it being welded on etc.. and have to replace the whole thing... thanks

It was my impression that you had to order the arm as the joint is already pressed in .But i could be wrong.

Yeah. Unless you go for an aftermarket upper control arm, the stock replacements are usually sold as a unit with the ball joint pressed in place.
