Ford ranger 3.0 head compatibility
Ford ranger 3.0 head compatibility
Hey guys im new here but i do have a question. My valve seats on my 2003 ranger 3.0 ffv engine are having some issues but i found some cylinder heads off of a 2000 ranger 3.0 ohv for sale. My question is would i be able to run this cylinder head on my truck without issues??? Or could i maybe take the seats and springs out and swap em? Let me know please been looking on forums all day for an answer and haven’t found one yet. I just wanna know if it would work or run like **** or not at all! Thanks!

Yes, you can swap any year 3.0l Vulcan heads to any year 3.0l Vulcan engine as a pair, no "mix and match"
FFV heads had different shaped head chambers but non-FFV heads can be used instead, but not one of each, it won't effect FFV performance one way or another
Flex Fuel was a computer software and fuel injector type, engine itself didn't matter
You would replace valves and valve seats with NEW ones, as needed, never used, same for springs
New valves and seats need to be "matched" to each other, this is called grinding and lapping, the valves angle and seat angle need to be exactly matched to get a good seal and good contact area for cooling of the valve, especially exhaust valves
You need to used new head bolts, they are TTY type so can only be used once
You need to use Ranger/B3000 3.0l head gaskets, 3.0l Car head gaskets would cause over heating in a Ranger
