Engine surging/stalling under load
Engine surging/stalling under load
1994 ford ranger 4.0 4x4. Not sure where to start. So my truck when accelerating it'll act like running out of gas I guess you could say. It'll kinda smooth out. If I accelerate slowly it's usually ok. It doesn't do it all the time but more when it's cold out weather wise or just cold Temps. Also my gas mileage has gone to the capper. It idles great and when cruising down the road it does great till it messes up. It's so random it's got me stumped. I'm leaning towards the tps. Sound plausible? Oh..no check engine light. Haven't checked codes yet. If there is any.
Thanks for the reply. Did the maf since that was one of the issues last time this happened. It looked clean and didn't seem to fix the issue at all. Changed the fuel filter and that made it a little better.
Don't forget to measure the fuel pressure and let us know.
I have a similar problem on my 4L, but have not checked it out yet because it does run.
Will try to have a look today, will start with fuel pressure.
