6.0 Powerstroke in a ranger
I would rather build a diesel that ran 12s than a Honda that ran 9's..
I would also rather have a fast diesel than a Mustang, Camaro, etc... Their just too popular.
uber fast diesels are still pretty rare.

i havent posted in this thread yet, but iv been watching the whole build., which is amazing by the way! but this quote right here, HAS to go in the sig!
Just so were all clear, I didn't waste 3 years of my life to build a 12 second truck. Those were test passes designed to set up the suspension. We haven't tuned it, or hit it with nitrous yet. It has 275 cc injectors and its getting 340's. It has an s-300 over an s-400 turbo, its getting an s-475 thrown on. The 12 second passes were 1000' launching with zero boost and pushing through the brakes. The next time you see it, it will be far lower. I built this truck for single digit ET's, not 12's.

No Matt, I didn't take any offense at all, not from you or Nick, just wanted to make clear that it wasn't gonna be a 12 second truck. Sometimes the keys don't let the intent be shown. WHen you do what I did, you better have thick skin. LOL
et and mph with what? my truck? my truck was a dd when it was together and i had nowhere near the amount of work done to it that you have... the best times i ever saw out of my ranger were low 14s with the 4wd and stock motor(i never made it to the track with the built motor because the supercharger was too small and too many other issues). as for the svt vehicles i used to build, we stayed in the low 10 second clubs... my ranger is still in pieces... every chance i get to work on it, i get pulled off if to work on something else :-( , besides, im not setting my truck up for the drag strip.
im takin my 500 dollar grand marquis that i have been working on to the track this week(1/8th mile) for some shake down passes just to see what it will do...
no hard feelings Tim, i was just a little disappointed with the first numbers. i was hoping to see some 8 second passes with ur truck. i hope u get it there!!! have u had it on the dyno? did i miss that post? i really wanna see some numbers!!!!
anything that can break out of the double digits in my book is awesome...
No numbers yet, we don't even have the big injectors in it yet, and have only hit it with a single stage 60 pill on the giggle gas. Were gonna stick a 110 jet and another 80 jet in it next. With 2.1-2.9 second 60 foots were leaving a lot on the big end.
Ok, I am no body guy, but I decided to tackle the hood. I bought a 4x10' section of 18 gauge sheet metal and got to town. I like to think of it right now as Frankenhood. The sides on it now are temporary so I could get the right hight. They will be cut out once the new sides are matched up, and it will be supported evenly accross the back. I stitch welded the front and started to grind it down with a flapper wheel when I ran out of time. It will take one more scoop up the middle to clear the piping.

Can't wait to see the vids.
Tranny coolers relocated , exhaust hooked up , driveline loop.

New Y pipe in, turbos and piping reinstalled.

Rich made adipstick bracket, tied up lines.

Rich tied up the wiring harness. Generally cleaned up everything with zip ties.

Rich moved the oil filter, NOS, and ECM.

Looks a little meaner now.

Its all downhill now. Couple little thing and its ready for the track.

AWESOME work, Tim!!! And I'm sure that pic won't be the last pic like that! I'm 100% postive we'll be seeing TONS more like that.
Say....are you keeping mirrors on it? If you are, have you thought about Street Scene lower profile ones? Might help that those brick shoving through the air issues trucks have in general. lol. Pictured below...
