transmission wont shift

i have a 2001 ranger 2.3 4 cyl 4x2 it will not shift. it drove fine all day stopped at a light went to go and it wouldn't shift motor revs but wont go. made no odd sound, no bad color to fluid, and level is fine. does the same in reverse, drive, 1, and 2. i get a little movement at higher rpms but no real movment. any one have any ideas? And let this be said just moved and don't have money for new tranny!

Sounds like the relevant clutch pack has failed.

I really don't know, i hate autos, my Wife's old Accord has 1st and 2nd clutch packs go out, cost a lot of money for a local shop to replace them.

2001 2.3l Duratec Ranger will use the 5R44E automatic

If you can't afford rebuild now then I would shop for used 5R44E, must be from a 2.3l 2001-2012 Ranger, 1997 and earlier won't fit, different 2.3l

All automatics run on Pressure, you have lost internal pressure, either from blown seal or bad pump.
No Pressure/low pressure means no Go

You could replace Valve Body, with trans in vehicle, but I doubt it would solve the issue and if it did it would be short term

On all 2.3l Duratec's you should replace the rear coolant hose and fitting while trans is out, impossible to get to otherwise
