I have the same exact problem with my mom's 1997 Saturn SL2. I have done all the same stuff that you have and i have adjusted the timing and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Maybe is a conspiracy by the auto makers to get you to spend more money on your vehicle...... ;-)

i would say check spark plugs. For some reason my truck came out of the factory with the wrong size gaps on the driver's side. Like you said, my truck also hesitated. Check plugs and gaps.

o2's are only good for about 80k or so. After that the are not as sensitive/efficient.

Its a good idea to change them the same time you do plugs.

Right, and this time get the code number(s) yourself and post them.

FWIW, the odds of a failing 02 sensor causing a misfire are pretty much nil.

I know but I need them anyway. But I think I'm going to look at the timing belt it seem like a good idea.Or until some one says they had the seam problem and fixed it.
