Cluster compatibilities

The Ford Ranger, the Explorer and Expl.Sport Track cluster look the same,as i see in many pictures in the forums, ebay and the web, even with the pass of the years still the same shape. Configuration is probably the x factor in where many things can change the panorama.A friend of mine have a 1995 Ranger Splash with the cluster of an Explorer but he don't know the year of the explorer cluster but is working pretty nice.
Is my problem now discover the correct cluster for my Ranger.,my cluster is not working properly mileage counter (odometer) is dead,MPH is not working right and temperature is dead(i'm using a mechanical gauge for temperature).
What years did you think is compatible with my 1995 Ranger?
I want a cluster with RPM .Mine never comes with this function.
I think that years 1993 and 1997 are almost the same cuz every time i buy a replacement part covers those years even the Haynes book cover the years 93' to 97.
thanks, any help will be appreciate.

1995 is when the rangers and explorers got the newer style dash, so i'd say you need a 95+ cluster. If you want the same year, try looking for a 95 4x4 cluster, they had the tach.

It is the same cluster, although some of the dummy lights and such will be in different places. But try to get one closer to 95..

You can't use 04 and up Ranger clusters.

they use different wiring and have the digital odo/tripometer which uses the computer, the 95-03 Ranger/95-01 Explorer used analog odo/tripometer- It just wouldnt work electronically.

Welcome to the forum

Pretty old thread

But yes, 1996-2003 clusters can be swapped, if either is from or for a 4cyl Ranger then you may need to change a ground wire for correct Tachometer reading
