There is a push button type switch that closes when door is closed...also operates the dome light.
Unfortunately, it is located in the door and is mounted to the door latch inside of the door. Have to remove the door panel to get to it.
Just google up 2007 Ford Ranger door ajar switch replacement....a # of sites come up with vidios on replacing.
If you can get to it after removing the door panel, a squirt of WD40 may help...likely it's just sticking because its dirty.
Thing is, by the time you take the door panel off and unbolt the latch to remove the switch, you might as well just replace it...new they run under 15 bucks..
And, welcome to the forum.

+1 to what Grumpaw said

Ford put the Door open sensor at the bottom of the latch inside the door
It is a Ground type sensor, when door is open sensor is GROUNDED, when door is closed sensor is open/ungrounded

Because of its location any debris or water will run down and get inside this switch causing it to stick closed so grounded and door ajar/dome light stays on

The WD40 can be used and MAY run down into the switch unsticking it so it will work again

If you have a 4 door model then you will have 4 of these switches.....................................

Driver's door is usually the culprit, usually being the key word
You can remove the door panel and reach in and unplug the 2 wire connector on the switch, and unplugged is ungrounded so door is closed as far as the Body computer is concerned, so door ajar light should go off if this is the switch that is stuck closed
This is true for any of the door switches, unplugged is ungrounded/door closed

The switches are "twist lock" button type, so to change the switch you remove the screws/bolts on the outside of the latch so it can be pulled away from the inside of the door then twist the switch and it will come free, reinstall new switch same way
