I finally started working on my corner lights again

The reason my updates came to a screeching halt is I screwed up the lenses I was going to use. I put off ordering new ones because I wanted to do other mods, and with my SAS drawing near I figured I'd try and finish this up.

Got new lenses painted, I'm cleaning off old glue to try and seal these up. My goal is to have them mounted this weekend.

 

Got my D30 today

 

DAM I want to put one in my truck but I know nothing about how to set it up. I wish someone made brackets and directions on how to put it in

 

I don't know much either, I'm going off build threads on multiple sites.

from my research these are "easy" to swap in after lots of cutting. the steering is what would seem the hardest to set up. going with the standard toyota ifs box?

 

I had planned to grab the Jeep's steering box, but I may get the Toyota box. I still need to organize all these build threads to get a good "instruction sheet" and parts list

I definitely don't wheel hard like you, Dewald, Beard, etc. I just want to get into SAS with the least amount of work.

This will be a good learning experience and a decent stepping stone to a possible bigger swap in the future.

 

I'm new to the forum and working on a custom truck myself. Just wanted to say that is a great looking truck and much respect on all the custom mods both interior and exterior. I like the wheels you got there, was trying to figure what wheel to go with but think I like the 185 Eagles seeing them on your truck. Got a long ways to go on mine but like what you did with your Edge.

 

I dunno how much help he'd be right now but rob put a D30 in his 92'. It works

 

sweet man. what type of jeep did you get the D30 off of?

and are you planning to rebuild/regear the diff or add a locker or what?

im looking at doing a D30 SAS myself, so ill be following this thread closely

I plan on gear swapping to 4.56 and adding a locker, just don't know what kind yet.

I also made a mobile work station for my axle

 

Have any of them mentioned using the knuckles from a grand Cherokee? I forget how it benefits you but it does.

I'll have to look into it, I know that I need to upgrade the shafts and u-joints to the 96-99 style

 

Projectors are in. I don't know when I'll get them mounted though, I'm in the process of moving. Hopefully soon.

 

I finally got around to taking my bumper to the body shop to get fixed and painted. I gave the shop my tailgate for a paint reference and he gave me the mixture printout of the camera shot vs the original Ford mixture.




After getting the bumper remounted I stepped back and suddenly fell in love with the look of no bumper pad. The gears started turning on how to keep it that way. I'm thinking fill the holes on top and delete the step.

But I may just put the pad back on.

 

That does look GOOD. Now I know what I am doing with mine!!!

 

just throw the pad back on lol. tons of work and itll need to be sprayed again.

 

I'd put something on the step part at least. Either cut the part of the pad so just the top sits on it.

I think it looks good painted, but leaving that step part uncovered doesn't look good to me. Maybe like rhino liner or something.

 

I like the monochromatic look too, Just wish I didn't have the step

I don't use the bumper to get in the bed, this is becoming a show truck and the bumper won't see much wear and tear.

The step part is what I wish was gone. This type of bumper (ignore the hitch) is what inspired me to cut the step off (These were on 73-79's)
