I have parts on the way for the SAS, but I've got a problem.

My welder is having shoulder surgery next month and I won't be ready for the swap before then.

Luckily I have the contact info for a local builder who has built offroad buggies and SAS'd Chevy's. I called him today and he told me to bring the truck out tomorrow, he thinks he could do it.

I can weld, I just don't trust myself for suspension work.

$1,000 will get you a decent welder. I don't know what you're looking at in welding charges.

I still need to download pics from my phone but parts are arriving and on the way.

Local builder said he would only charge me $500 to do the SAS.

I hear ya. I went to his shop and he's built some nice trucks. He's mainly built SAS Chevy's but he has a sweet rock crawler on Rockwells.

I'll grab some pics next time, I didn't expect his work to be so clean. He told me he would spend more time cleaning my frame where the IFS was than actually welding the new since that part was easier.

He definitely knows his stuff, I feel a lot more confident after talking to him

Getting rid if the ifs crap is most definitely the hardest part and most time consuming part of an SAS. The rest is pretty simple, weld brackets where they need to be, and bolt on your parts.

The guy who is helping me said that was the worst part of all his swaps, he spends a lot of timing cleaning the frame to make it look nice.

I should elaborated further, he charges $25/hr at his shop and estimated this would take him 20 hours, that's where I got the $500 figure.

I'm hoping to get pics uploaded soon, more parts arrived over the weekend

8.8 is at the sandblasters. D30 is being tore down, parts are on order or in a pile in my garage.

I'll make a big update once I get the 8.8 together again.

I'm still trying to figure out what long arms and steering to use

Yawn, I know another boring update.

But the good news is that I finally all the parts to get started, axles will be put together next week, then the truck goes the following week.

I delayed my axle assembly by a week due to Ballistic Fab's black friday sale. I got these diff covers 30% off.

Started installing gears and assembling the axles. When I got to his shop another project was waiting to get worked on.
