I don't really use the parking brake, but I'd be more worried if I had a manual transmission.
Also, are you going to keep the crossover steering, or go to High-Steer? I'm going to start out with cross-over steering to keep it simple and low(er) cost, then upgrade later.

so...your actually lifting about 7" thats what the new axle will give you...then plus your body lift so your gunna have about a 10" lift...

BTW putting the vss back nto the 9 inch has been done, just dont know how easy it would be...

I'm guessing one would need to remove the tie-rod to get the differential cover off.

probably not. once you pull the bolts it should just slide out

unless its for like new gears or a locker or somthing, in which case, youde want to pull the TR for extra room anyway...

Check that out Gil, if you have time. My buddy had access to a HUGE metal shop, but it closed and all the equipment was moved. I'm wanting to build a cage, and said friend can do most of the work. So I need the tools...

knowledge, TIME...
but back to the axle swap subject. so a total of 7" lift from stock...what could you fit...tire wise
Got alot done today. Bed is off. Did the chevy springs swap in a couple hours and cut and flipped my shackle hangers like redranger4.0. Here's some pics. It's sitting right at the height of reggie's explorer. I might leave the body lift at first, and see how tipsy it is so i don't have to butcher the bed (read: if its too high and the bed needs to be cut, the bed will be off for a flatbed/truggy)

Sittin on the springs! no jackstands! (on the frame anyways lol)

Starting on my rear axle. Might be able to sit it on the rear axle and wheels/tires in a week or so here.

*think think think*
Steering box, pitman arm, hydro assist ram, high pressure hoses for ram, power steering pressure hoses, make the steering shaft, brake lines f/r, shocks f/r, driveshafts, crossmember for driveshaft clearance.
and i know theres more i need to do.

Affirmative.
Should have a detroit tomorrow or thursday. When it gets in i'm going to get my gears installed. Weld the perches on. When the shafts get in i'll get the rotors re-drilled to 6-lug and assemble the axle, Mount it on the truck. And hopefully in the mean time i'll get my last 3 wheels and tires, and my internal beadlocks.
