jeeps are very low from the factory. When trying to keep a vehicle low its easyer to put the shackle up front. Because most frames have a kick down after the engine so it would make the shackle mount lower and give more lift then they wanted.

i picked up the tj axle shaft today and put more money in my bank account so i can buy shackles.

the axle shaft was only $50, most places want $75 for just the inner shaft without the joint and outer part.

i also cleaned my truck, but i will post pictures of that later.

getting close!

btw zach, you should really get some 4.10 gears, my truck is so much faster now and i seem to be getting better gas mileage.

plus i can use 5th gear on the highway.

we tore down the spare axle but we aren't going to use it.
i thought we were going to needs parts from it but the pinion nut was loose and the pinion bearing is fine.

im not sure what the cover is made out of, i think its stainless steel but my dad seems to think its aluminum.

the last picture of the axle on the bench is the axle we are using, the empty axle is the spare.

I think you'll like those Mastercraft tires. I've been running a set of 35's for over a year now and have been impressed with both their on and off-road manners. They seem to wear well too.

Looks like you're making good progress!
