working on putting together a training exercise for Search and Rescue so went up in the snow with a few other members to scout some locations and plan our activities, we will be working on navigation, search techniques, vehicle recover, snow driving, radio communications and other aspects of SAR.
Here's some video nothing to exciting but its aways fun to air down and get up in the snow.

This weekend will be the true test, spending 3 days out in the snow.

took some video from a snow driving excercsice with search and rescue. it was warm out that day so the snow was trechorous. the FJ, JK, and TJ are all locked front and rear and we were all running 8 psi in our tires and still sinking in. fun times!

Here's some pics of where I ended up. Drive in then switched to 2 wheel locked the axle and did a power break until it dug down to the axle. Then it still drive out in 4 low but I figured it was good enough for practice.

got a bit of a picture update for today,
First of I am experimenting with tablet navigation systems so I installed a Ram Mount for the Dell Venue 8 Pro, it runs full windows so I can program my radios and my gps which is great. The tablet ran great over the weekend and the mount is super stable even wheeling.
went up with a goal to make it up to lonesome lake and we did after much plow work by the TJ, Big Explorer and a Cherokee we ran into. the last .8 miles we had to ram the snow bank and only made 10-15 feet of progress at a time! gota love snow wheeling.
Heading up
View from Haller pass
I got put on monty recovery task for most of the day, even locked front and rear with snow tires he was having traction and clearance issues. more on this later,
Kevin came along and got to try out his new truck in the snow
lots of snow plowing
wasn't a bad day thats for sure
getting higher
and then the monty started to get stuck
and the snow started to get deeper
lots of fun plowing fresh tracks
occasionally got stuck here ant there while beating the snow into submission.
deep snow,
then the mounty got stuck again
and again
playing in the fresh snow
wheels packed up with snow and some of these were found, WHEEL CAKES
getting close
made it around 3-4 feet of snow up top
hiked out to the lake
some cool shots
