Alright... so I know you stated it somewhere in this 50+ page thread.... but I got tired of looking after like 10 pages... haha...

What did you need to do for the conversion to 8 lug on your 44? It was something like Chevy spindles, hubs, and rotors on the Ford knuckle or something like that I think, but I just wanted to know for sure.

On the D44 you can run 8 lug if you have the knuckles/caliper bracket/spindle/hub etc from either a D44 3/4 ton chevy or ford. that will work on any D44.

Maybe if you have a 78+ you could run f150 knuckles with f250 spindle/hub/rotor to 8 lug. but for me my bearings are all different and so are the knuckles and spindles.

Matt,

Didnt you buy these knuckles?
http://www.reidracing.biz/DANA44.php

The ford ones? If so you could buy the correct spindles and outters to run 8lug if you wish.

going 8 lug on the 9 is a MAJOR PITA.

its easier just to run two bolt patterns, although I dont see any advantage of converting to 8 lug...

Yes those are the knuckles I bought.

8 Lug is something I probably should have thought of sooner but I've got wheels for 5x5.5, and spindles, hubs and rotors for 5x5.5, so 8 lug will maybe be a project later on. I was more just curious how you did it.

yeah no ranger should need 8 lug. i am running it for the brakes mainly. my calipers are massive in the front and i love the "big" ford hub found on these D44s and the SnowPlow edition D60s on F250s back in the 70s

Hey Zack, i might need to get some measurements of how long your steering links are and a parts list for what ends you got etc when i start building up. just to make it go faster

andy, steering parts measurements are super quick and can be done really easily. also, I would base a custom build off another custom build. everyones build is different just a tad.

I wouldnt do steering offzachs measurements. maybe a rough idea of how much DOM to buy, but thats it...

Ford never used the 8on170mm until 99?

all other 8 lugs are 8on6.5

I disagree. I would much rather spend a less money and build my own setup. I could almost justify just the tie rod if you could get that separately for half the price of the kit, but I would ratehr measure my own drag link.

It SUPER simple to setup to your exact adjusment needs AND cheaper!

also, I would not prefer to us the scissor type steering setup.

Gil you need to read the link!

first you can order it in cross over or the y setup.
you can order it welded or just get 2 - 58" pieces of DOM. 58" is more than enough to run full width axles on the ranger. Let me know when you can buy all those TREs from Napa or Autozone for instance and the rod ends, jam nuts, and DOM, in that size for less than that kit.

I bet you can't do it.
