I'm trying to decide if 4.56 gears or 4.88's will be best with a stock 2.3 lima, im going to be running 33x13.50r15 mud grapplers and adding a rear 8.8 with a 31 spline ox locker and a dana 35 with 44 knuckles and outer stubs and hubs and running a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern on both. Running a 2.5 in lift and cutting everything in my way.

 

The 4.56 gears are ideal with 33" tires with my 4.0 SOHC engine. I don't think you would be happy with that gear/tire combination with a 2.3L engine. The 4.88 gears would be the better choice.
