One thing to remember is that 5" of shock travel is more than 5" of wheel travel. Again, the limiting factors are the existing components of the suspension, not the shocks.
Good point, just didn't want to leave any travel behind if I added hoops. The Sand Dunes get whooped out pretty quickly on the weekends.

just thought I would update everyone on how my coilovers are doing after a year of abuse.
first thing I found out over the winter is bump stops are important, I over bumped pulling Josh on a snow run. which torched one of my CVs and resulted in a long day driving out in 2wd and a ride home from a friend.
basically the bump stops are too long causing them to deflect on hard hits thus over traveling the suspension causing the CVs to bind.

the solution for that was to install a set of shaft bumps on the shocks themselves.
second, over the past 6 months the front end has been developing a creak and it had gotten to the point where every bump in the road the suspension would creak like crazy.
turns out one of the lower misalignment spacers had a ton of side to side play causing the creak. it came down to the spacers that came with the kit not fitting well and their taper trapped dirt in accelerating wear. also from the look of it they were too wide and riding on the shock eyelet.
here's what it did to the rod end over time, and you can see the bump stops

I replaced the misalignment bearings with a set of sleeved urethane bushings to smooth out and quite the ride.

I also may re-weld the lower mount to a 1.5" width instead of the 1.25 and also angle the tabs to be inline with the upper mount and not have such an extreme difference.
overall still very happy with the kit but these improvements should help the durability and drive ability.

So you're saying that those nice Daystar bump stops don't actually stop bumps? That's disappointing, but good to know. I can see how they'd deflect off the edge of the LCA. Where did you get your shaft bumps? Any specs or part numbers you can share? Looks like those urethane bushings are from ORW, but do you have any specs for those as well?

The shaft bumps are from eibach and purchased on poly preformance.
And yep the bushings are from orw

That's great feedback. I wish I had some feedback like this after the first run.
I will look at these things before I do another run.
If you do end up rewelding the bottom mounts, post up pics of what you've done. I am no longer going to have a Ranger to test things on, so getting this kind of info from customers who are putting mileage on them will help me make adjustments in the future. However, I'll say that the angle I placed them at was because the shock does not side in line with the upper mounts. I wanted to give as much clearance as possible. It may be a little too far, but parallel with the upper mount would actually cause the rod end to be constantly at an angle with the uprights.

Would you guys like to see a set of flanges included in the kit for attaching limit straps? They'd essentially be the same as the uprights that are welded on the lower mounts, to be welded onto either the frame or the lower control arm, seen circled in the attached picture.

Limit Strap/Seat Belt Bracket - RuffStuff Specialties
We'll I got one coil over on... Gotta do the other one, take the truck to work weld the gussets on, and make a bracket for the limit straps.
Oh and I used 12" springs on stock height and everything seems to be working good. I also got another inch of lift from them compared to my cranked torsion bars.

Looks good! I worry about up-travel though...even more after the springs settle. Can only see about an inch or inch and a half of shaft showing...meaning shocks are too tall. I could be wrong though.
Factor in 2.5 more inches for the shaft bumps he has installed, so he's got 4-5 in exposed which should be fine.
Anybody have links to the mentioned shaft bumps? I still don't have any bumps or straps on mine...not to worried about straps as I never wheel it, but would like the safety of bumps.

We'll I busted a nipple off the second coil over (personal error) so off to the 4 wheel drive guy tomorrow to get it fixed! Glad he is trained on fox shocks so he should have all the stuff needed.... I was so close!!!
