Wont start after replacing starter

My starter went out, I grabbed a new one from autozone, it was slightly different but seems like it should have worked, I went to start it up, I could hear the starter go for like 1/2 a second before it shut off, and all my dash lights shut off as well, before trying to start my battery had 12.2 volts, my truck still has power, my headlights and high beams can both turn on but none if my dash lights come on, I checked all my fuses and they all are fine, any advice on what it could be?

also the new starters part number is DL3232S if that helps, I have a 2000 4.0 manual if any of that helps

Bench test the new starter to isolate it from the rest of the truck.

Remove, Clean and reconnect BOTH battery cables
10amp head lights are NOT the same as 70amp starter motor
