Assistance Greatly Appreciated
Tomorrow I'm going to look at a 2011 XLT 2.3L with about 55k miles. Besides the normal inspection is there anything in particular I should watch out for. I'm looking for a known red flag the experts on this forum can help me with. It's a SoCal car so it should be rust free. Asking Price $13.7k which is a little high.
Thanks to All

Welcome to the forum
2011 Rangers didn't have any red flag issues in general
2.3l Duratec was a good reliable engine, used 2001-2011 in Rangers, and turbo version is now used in the 2019-2021 Rangers
5R44E automatic needs regular service, and you should add a 2nd trans cooler if it doesn't have one, best $60 you can spend on ANY automatic vehicle
If manual the M5OD-R1 is bullet-proof, very reliable transmission
Price/value of anything is set by the buyer, not the seller
Seller sets an "asking price"
Buyer sets the "sold price"

As with any used veh, check and see if there are any maintained records available, check and see if there is a complete owners manual set, and check if the truck is "complete"...spare, jack, trailer hitch and 4 prong trailer wire (standard on 2011 Rangers)
Check frame for any serious rust, check bottom / underneath bed for rust on rails that attach it to frame. Check fluids and if possible see if they have been changed recently, or at all via maintaince records.
And just a good visual look around, and see if there is anything you spot that "raises a red flag". Condition of tires, belts, hoses. All around condition of interior. Any sounds, clunks, groans, squeals when your driving it, braking it, ect.
$13,700 may seem a bit high, but, as an example, when I got my 2009 2 years ago from a little old neighbor,, it only had 23,000 miles. 2009 XL plain jane, longbed, 2.3, auto and ac. Was in almost as new condition.
My local Ford dealer offered me 12 grand for it as a trade on any veh he had on his lot, new or used. I kept it, dolled it up a bit, and is a permeant resident in my garage.
These little Rangers in pristine condition are getting harder to find and nice one's do command a good price. I'd see what his best price is and obviously offer him less and haggle with him. Check Kelly Blue Book, NADA, Auto Trader, ect, web sites for similar vehicle pricing, and Auto Trader for similar vehicles for sale.
If the truck is in real good condition, nothing to worry about as far as longevity, or problems....just maintain it. Only recalls that are currant are for the airbags, drivers and passenger....both originally the Takata...Ford dealer will replace at no charge.
