Hey my stock radio blew up and the 29 fuse blew. I put a new fuse in and put another radio in but it will not come on. I tested the wires and the light green/yellow wire would not show a reading. The only reading i got was from the yellow/black wire with the key turned on. Any help would be appreciated.
this is a 2002 ranger edge

 

Check fuse #20 7.5 amp

and fuse #28 7.5 amp

 

Ive checked them they are good

 

Check fuses #1,#6 and #11 in the under hood fuse box, they're all 50 amp. They power the in cab fusebox

 

They are good.

 

You verified they are good by looking at them ? or a test light/meter ?

For 2002 Ranger base model Radio system

Fuse 28 is to MUTE the Factory radio when starting, it should ONLY have 12v when key is turned all the way to START, 0v with key on, NEVER hook this wire up to another 12v wire or your starter motor will activate, leave it unhooked and taped up if you are not going to use it on new radio

Fuse 29 is hot all the time, it is ONLY used to hold Clock and pre-set stations memory, it doesn't power the radio part, most radios need this to hold memory, i.e. favorites and clock time, this is a LOW amp draw so it doesn't drain the battery, DO NOT use this for 12v power source or you will get a Dead Battery

Fuse 20 powers the radio, key on power, the yellow/black wire, this is the one you use for new radios power source

If i take out the 29 fuse and stick my meter in the 29 fuse holes should it read 12v bc it doesnt read anything none of the fuse holes i checked read anything but everything in the truck is working except the radio

 

Then some thing has happened in the fuse box

Check if 4-way flashers work, they are on the same bus as fuse 29, fuse 21, also brake lights, fuse 13

Fuse 1 in ENGINE fuse box, 50amp, feeds the 12v bus(metal bars) in the Cab fuse box for a whole string of "Power all the time fuses"
You see the tan/black jumper wire between bus's, if its bad then 29 AND 21, along with several other fuse, would also have no power


And just to be clear on checking for 12v at a fuse
You GROUND the volt meter on a metal bolt in the cab
Then test each slot of the fuse holder for 12volts, only 1 will have 12volts, the other one connects to radio wire

 

I got it working i was checking my meter with the factory radio plugin and everything looked good then hooked everything back up and it worked but i forgot to put the red cap back on the factory wiring harness so im not sure why it wasnt working with it on but it is staying off. Thanks for all yals help
