haha been cold and snowy = no motivation. I'm waiting to hear back from the engine shop on a quote for machining and installing a 331 rotating assembly in my 302 block. Other than that just garage mods and ordering of parts. Building a tailgate for my f250 right now. pretty big order from TMRcustoms should be here Thursday. Got some dimple dies, crossmember goodies, machined tube caps, gussets etc.

Also tried to lift my cab off my frame to set it aside by myself and the engine hoist. no go, cab just wanted to tip into the ram on the hoist. I have one more option to try with the hoist otherwise it's on to better things...Might invest in a 9k 2 post lift. I'm pretty sure it would pay off in less headaches over and again. Would be a sound investment with some of my Nova money. Actually much cheaper than I thought too.

How is the block, any luck on the 327 CI setup ?

If I was doing another engine that's where I would be headed.

My Long Rod 5.0L is still waiting to be fired and should produce around the 300+ range in HP but I want to feel the torque and see if the mods I did work out.

Luck on the Machone Shop.

Not sure how it is yet,I'll probably give them a call again today. Just visually it looks great to me. I should probably stay 327 and leave 30 over for a if need be future rebuild.

Post what you end up doing on this.
I would like to know how a 327 works out.
A 327 SBC had to be the best engine Chevy ever had.

Not much of an update as bad weather held up my TMR order. But I did get the new welder setup to do steel and man what I difference the right tool makes. Pretty sure I'm going to re-do the whole truck now :)

Made a little pencil/marker holder deal for the workbench as a test.

not really ranger related, but started making the new tailgate for the F250. Original was rusted out and figured I could build a cooler one for cheaper than a replacement. Still have some more tube to add, aluminum sheet, and the latches.

had to hand notch everything. lost the shaft to my notcher somewhere.

machined tube ends add a nice touch

That's a good start Andy, are you putting any plate or are you leaving it open like that?

thanks! just got the tubes burned in tonight. Just need to figure out how I want to plate it in still, and add a few more tubes. Then add my spring loaded latches and weld some plates onto the bed with a half inch hole for the catch.

Don't get cocky yet, you'll soon be in the 100's while he is rocking 70.

If the 60's here in SoCal, 80's next week but low humidity.

Should get hotter but hoping the lower humidity will help.

Compared to the Northeast it is nice !

more non-ranger. started getting the sheet work done on the tailgate. Need to pick up a shop press for doing the dimples. Impact,1/4 plate for washers, and a nut and bolt works ok but is loud and forever taking. Hopefully get it done this week, paint it if it's warm enough, and throw it on the truck.

didn't really know how I wanted to do the holes, but this will look ok when done I think.

tabs burned in

The tailgate looks good.
Was thinking... wood burning, smell it !
What if, you make it deeper, taper the sides some, put a cover on the inside of the bed section with a piano hinge and latches, add some sheeting and wham bam you got a tool box tail gate.

Make one for a Ranger Steppie with HD Tailgate Hinges and I would buy one for my truck.

What do you think ?
