I would definitely recommend them. I don't know how Griz700rocket got them to clear without having no clearance between the coil springs and the upper control arms. These coilovers are a tight squeeze in for us. In order to have a decent travel without contact between springs and upper control arms, I brought the lower mounting point in close, so I can tell you that, if installed correctly, my kit requires extended rod ends.

Is it possible to mount them further back on the control arm to clear the CV without them? Probably. However I wouldn't recommend doing it.

Who else wants some? Turn time is down to about 2 weeks right now! The shop has all the pieces cut, so when I order a set, they just weld them up and powdercoat them. I even have a few sets of hardware all ready to go!

 

Okay, I'm another guy that wants this kit but doesnt want to read through 67 pages to find out what I need. I know how to make the payment and all, but i am having trouble finding out what Coil-over I need. I have a 1999 4x4 with a 3 inch torsion crank on 33s. I want to keep that same height if possible, if i cant ill just wait until i have the time for an sas. So, I want to go with the fox 2.0 reservoir shocks since I can get them at a discounted price. From what I have read so far is i should go with a 2.0x6.5 with a 12inch (Eibach) spring. Is this correct? Please help!!

 

You do not want the 6.5" travel, you want the 5" travel and 10" springs. You want to also make sure that when you install the limit straps, you set them so that the upper control arms can not contact the springs. This is one thing you have to be careful about when setting these that high.

I know there are plenty of guys on here that have installed these kits and set them at the approximate hight of a full TB crank, so you should be OK with that.

 

I'd like a set of these brackets. How do I go about getting them?

Just ordered my coil overs from Downsouth Motorsports. Neil at DSMS was super helpful and very knowledgeable about this conversion. He is installing the extended eyelets for me and was really good helping me to figure out the valving to best suit my setup. I can't say enough about this company, Neil even called me back a little while later to tell me that my parts were ordered and on their way from Fox already. Top notch people, it's refreshing to get that level of customer service these days! Can't wait to get these installed and post up my pics.

 

Evan, that looks great. I'm actually doing similar with my truck in the spring. What upper control arms are those, and are they stock length, or any longer?

 

Thanks man! They are custom arms with uniballs and they are awesome. They are longer.

 

Nice! I'm considering making custom lowers and uppers. I'm thinking of going tubular with both, but I might go with boxed lowers for strength.

 

Uca's better not be longer with stock lowers..

 

Just long enough to clear the coil because i put the uca pivot point 13 degrees back. It cycles perfectly all the way up and down, ran it fairly hard and no problems. Only thing is i had to order a 12" spring because the 10" wont even get it to stock height with out coil bind.

 

If you made a longer uca and moved the mount back you would be back to square one for room. I dont understand the point considering those a-arms would clear the 3.0 coils for a 2.5 shock easily. (You would have to push the knuckle into some serious positive camber to theoretically gain more room inside the a arm)

 

My mounting points are different, not the same as stock.

I didnt measure it but works just fine, still lock in and out of 4wd high and low with no noises, and strapped it for that reason

 

So I'm a little dumbfounded. I'd like to use the fox remotes for this project, but I just got off the phone with ORW and they told me the smallest they can go with that selection is 8" travel. Is this correct information, or is there a 'lost in translation' here somewhere? I have all the part numbers of what people are using for the conversion, and I know the parts required to complete the project. I'm just wondering if I'm mistaken in believing that I could use a remote reservoir in this application.

 

I just looked them up on ORW site and I found the 5" travel remote res coilovers. Part # 980-02-040-A. I was talking to them as well and they weren't very helpful when it came to this conversion. They wanted to refer me to Fox directly to have them help me with the shock setup, valving etc. I called Downsouth Motor Sports and they were more than willing to help me.

Edit: I just checked and DSMS stocks them as well. Same part #.
