Assuming you'll be running Torque Monster headers (not sure theres anything else available), tell them you'll be running an intake spacer when you order and they'll send you an EGR tube designed for it.
Also, no biggie to rebend the stock one. When i was running my intake spacer, took me maybe 5 minutes to coax the egr tube into shape.

Well don't think i'm going to get around to ordering the motor today because i'm waiting on paypal to send me some of my mulah. Someone did buy the 4.0. Well i took the tranny apart from the motor last night and now i need to know how to remove the torque convertor. Does it just pull off or is there something holding it. I didn't really look hard at it after i got the tranny pulled out the way cause i was ready to go to bed. And i'm gunna talk to the guy that's sending the motor and see how much more it would be to get the transmission (if it's AWD). If i can afford it i'll just go ahead and get the whole package.

Yep, converter should just slide out. Awesome on the motor sale.
Chris

EDIT: Just realized yo didn't specify what the T/C is still on. If its on the trans, it just slides out. If its on the motor, it has 4 bolts through the flex plate. You need to spin the motor, and access them through the starter hole.

Well this went to ****, sorry Jracer I'll clean it up.

Post count means absolutely nothing, what you actually post does. Just because you have a higher post count doesn't mean anything.

Are these the right 1.7 ratio rocker arms?

Crane Cams 44746-16 - Crane Energizer Pedestal Mount Roller Rocker Arms - Overview - SummitRacing.com

And quick note, i'm gunna replace valve springs too. Been talking to a local guy who has built a few of these and he told what engine shop i should use for installation and what parts seem to go first, so he's been telling me what i should go ahead and change while it's torn down,
Might also adjust the Cam 4*. He said with the 1.7's it'll give me more low end.

Those are the same as the stock 93~95 Cobra RR's, also available from FRPP as M-6564-A50.

Since you took it down this far consider a Cam replacement.

Comp Cams makes a great cam for a roller 5.0L and it will help with the low end that is a little too soft in this engines.
i wil have to look it up but it has a lot of lift .513/.515 @ .050 and a little short n the duration around 267 (?) but it comes in around 1300 rpms and works all the way to 5800 rpms; Short Duration / High Lift equates to more low end power or more torque which gets you going.
This cam should have a good set of Roller Rocker Arms but not the 1.7s, it needs the OEM ratio of 1.6.
Just decide what you want to do wit the vehicle after the engine is in, trail rides, easy commuting or drag racing and select a cam accordingly.
Maybe call one of the Manufacturers and ask their tech line.

Also, while the engine is out replace the Timing Chain even if you don’t replace the cam and the Oil Pump, might be a good idea to add a high volume pump, not high pressure just high volume.
The bolts for the Timing Chain Cover and the Oil Pan should be soaked for a while before attempting to remove them. All of them are small diameter bolts and break easily.

Good Luck on the build up.

p.s. All new bolts too !

I ran those 1.7 roller rocker for 2 to 3 years and they work great, but I would not buy them new. Either track down a used set or my personal preference is Scorpian Roller Rockers for the price and quality.

I don't want to buy a used internal engine part. Especially not a performance part. lol But i will look into the scorpions, are they cheaper? 1.7 ratio? And no new cam, Just new timing set and a 4* change.

You can get the Scorpians in different ratios including 1.7. IMO the Scorpians are a nicer rocker for the money. I have run both on my truck and I prefer the Scorpians mainly because I found them to be quieter.

The scropions were a two dollar difference. Might as well get them. Better quality and less noise is what you said. So i'm going with your word.

And in between wrenching i been doin a little prepping and painting. (I couldn't get the flas to do what i wanted to show the 5.0 emblem good, but w/e)

Oh yeah, and I talked to machine shop today, $340 for:
Remove three broken bolts from heads
Hot dip
Clean gasket surfaces
Valve job
Set up valve springs
and set up roller rockers

Same exact this i was thinkin. lol I'm just gettin some stuff painted so I can get it inside and out of the shop. I'm sooooo tempted to buy those rockers used. I know i said i wouldn't, but there's a used set of cranes on ebay with 5 days left and it's at $26 right now. Just seems risky. Anyone ever had problems buying used ones?

correct spacer?
Application doesn't match but it looks correct to me. Bolts may be different (think I've read that somewhere)

Yep that will work with the Explorer intake and you will need to get a couple of bolts that are longer by the same amount as the spacer is thick.

X2 on the Scorpion Rockers. I bought a set as the Ford Racing are on backorder and I will tell you what, If I ever need a set I will buy the Scorpions again and again for sure.
