check the fluid level with the truck off and then with the truck started, if the fluid level does not change, the converter or pump is not working. start by removing the trans pan and inspecting the filter. make sure it didnt fall down or that it isnt clogged. also look for brass or excessive debris in the trans pan

I really appreciate the help ...the truck isnt worth putting a lot of money into ,so I think I might try pulling a cooler line to see if the fluid is flowing ,but I really think its a waste of time ...the truck looks ruff but it only has 138000 on it .....

This why I hate automatics. a standard has gone bad on me but I always found a way to get it moving or you get warning signs in advance so if you neglect it then you will be stuck. I've never had a standard just stop working.
