The "What did you do to your Ranger today" thread
hi, I'm new to this forum and I can't figure out how to post a thread. I've checked everywhere, either I'm blind or I'm not looking in the right spot. If you can help me, please do. Thanks a lot. From Watermellon.

Shot in 720P by my new GoPro HD 960 with adhesive mounts (soon to have a roll bar mount so I can place the camera other interesting places):

Replaced factory speakers with Rockford Fosgate Primes - piece of cake except for the stripped screw head on the drivers side window crank. Nothing a little drill work and judicious use of force couldn't overcome.
Installed a Ford Racing oil filter adapter - like the huge filter - and changed the oil. Apparently the dealership guys that did the last change heard the Jiffy Lube horror stories. I had to use a long breaker bar to get the drain plug loose and the filter was on so tight it started to crush before it came loose.

There the Sonar chrome ones. I like them, people complain about the cut-off line but I think its great. I have pictures of it but haven't put them up. I don't like the halos there dim and look off. I unhooked them and put white leds in the the corners to match the three across the front. I'm very happy with them, getting a H1 HID kit for it soon.

Changed my fuel filter, and needless to say, got gas in my eye and ear. Gas in the ear is definitely a whole new type of pain! I knew as soon as it hit my eardrum that I was screwed! No lasting effects, as long as you irrigate the area(s) for about 20 minutes. The ear pain lasted for a few hours, and now I just feel like my one ear is underwater, but it will take awhile to get better.
I just wanted to share because I know that no matter what you do, you are going to have some gas come out when you remove the first line, I was wearing glasses, but that only saved my eye slightly....the gas ran down the arm of the glasses right into my ear. This is a simple repair, that most anyone can do, but make sure that you go under the truck prepared, safety glasses and something to cover your ears are a must, and I don't recommend having your mouth open!! I think next time I'll wrap my head in a towel! Truck runs better! :)

Color-matched the grill. Need to scrape together the extra cash for an 01+ bumper, fogs, and brackets, then I'll color-match that. My current one is bent, and I'd like to update it instead of just replacing.
Busy day today since it so nice out--plugs, wires, Screamin' Demon coil pack, cleaned IAC, TB, and MAF, cleaned underhood, pulled the seats out to do a thorough post-winter cleaning, installed my Thunderbolt signal mirrors, and installed my hydroimaged carbon fiber bezel and door panel trim. Hopefully it will be decent tomorrow so I can get my seats cleaned and reinstalled.
BTW--the Thunderbolt signal mirrors are awesome--40 bucks well spent.

More work re-doing the crappy work the former owner did on the “cluster truck”….
I just finished installing a factory ford stereo (CD + Cassette) from an ’01 (?) F250.
The stereo that came with it was a Pioneer CD head unit, with the wrong adaptor, HACKED into the dash. It was hooked only to the rear speakers. I had to laugh when I removed the rear speaker grills. Laying in each speaker well was a cheap 4 inch tall computer speaker.
No wonder it sounded so bad! The connector for the factory radio was cut off, found 3 bad fuses and one missing one, and there were no speakers in the doors.
I bought the ford stereo from a guy on CL pretty cheap, fortunately he had a connector from another truck he was parting out.
A week or so ago I installed a new antenna because the guy removed the original one (to paint the truck?) and never put it back in. Then I installed door speakers – got some cheap Pioneers from Circuit City. And finally today I put the rest together for an actual working system.
