The "What did you do to your Ranger today" thread
I waxed and buffed my ranger with McGuiar's Next Generation Tech 2.0 wax I got from Lowe's. Except for a couple of scratches and dings, it looks like a new truck. Not bad at all for a 9 year old truck !!!!
I like to get a coat of wax on before winter to help protect it from the road salt.
There's no reason I can't get another 9 years out of this truck !!!

Last week I broughtmy 06 to MN. We drove from NJ to the Twin cities Assembaly plant, so I could see those who made my truck for me. I even got to thank a few of them too. I got 24.5 mpg in my last leg home. Not bad for a 4.0!
Drove to a friends house to replace the A/C system on her Mountaineer and as I was under her truck, I looked back and saw a big puddle under mine.. Finally found that damn leak I've had for the past 8 months... Thermostat housing - the plastic pos thats floating via rubber hose above the motor - finally gave way... So I've parked the truck 50 miles from my house at my sisters, and have to find a dealership that has the housing as the local parts stores say its a dealer only item...
Plastic ???? Really ?? WTF Ford ????

Went to get the replacement parts for the thermostat housing and everything with it. 3 stops and $200 later I think I have it. Cant believe its a ford dealership only part. And they didn't have the thermostat o-ring. Now I'm off to start working on it.
Used it to pull a Honday CRV AWD out of a bad spot. My first pull. They pulled off the shoulder and didnt see the drainage ditch! Was on a crazy slant too. Had another vehicle tie off so it wouldnt tip, slide or fishtail. Just about sitting on the pipe as it was.
Truck runs great. Tries to spin the tires like it used to. Replaced thermostat / thermostat housing and cleaned intake / maf / sensors and new alternator and belt. 144,000 miles and all I've spent on it in the 9+ years I've had it is just over $1k. Including tires. Not to bad. Maybe I should keep it.*
I need to give it some tlc in the ball joint / steering department. Should I just add the spindle lift and and install new components to that or not lift and do it. Hmmm.
