The seat is all the way back so you can see it, but is usually hidden under the seat. (for us normal height humans :))

I have never had a problem with Maglites and figure they could work as a hammer or baton in an emergency.

Get a Surefire.

If you have to use a Maglite then these work good:

yep, that's the guy I got mine from.. I recognize the username, now.

Shane -- tell Alon that, since I gave him the idea, he owes me one of those fancy Alon original CB antenna mount brackets that he doesn't make any more! ;-)

Here is a nice one, holds the light with with delrin pins; all aluminum & S/S but it comes with a price $$$, bling.
The pic is of the Roll Bar mounting but they are making Floor Mounts as we speak.

Some bar stock and a little machining or grinding would make a nice set of floor mount attachment.
Opening in Mount is .600, so maybe some .500 aluminum bar can be molded into a mount.

From what I have ben told the mount will hold the MAG securely.

So are these about to be for sale? I don't want to have to mount the maglite holder if I don't have to

I will have a prototype made by the end of the weekend. Will also have a mount which will hold two mag lights side by side. I bought enough material to make 4 mounts and they are all spoken for already. I will be trying a few different variations and will end up making a batch of them.

I need to figure out if I'm using premade tabs vs making my own and figure out the cost of shipping and all materials before I come up with a price.

Is anyone interested in a mount that holds two lights?

How about a D-Cell and a AA Mag Mount ?

The tab thing is interesting, it would appear you will need a custom mount for this but I may not be looking at it the same way.

If so, how does it work; as bright as the Ion Bulbs that are out now ?

Yes, it is custom built using 6x Cree Q5 Bin WC LED's and 1x Cree Red LED.

It is set-up using a 2-stage resistored tailswitch to draw 150ma on low with an estimated output of 350 lumens with over 4 hours of runtime. On high the light draws 650ma with an estimated output of over 1100 lumens with over an hour runtime. So it is much brighter than most any drop-in module or LED.

The drawback is that this set-up requires quite a bit of customizing and is quite expensive.

For a drop-in I would recommend a Malkoff Cree XP-G LED module.

Here: Drop-In Module for 2-3 D-Cell to fit Mag-Lite [2-3 D-Cell Drop-In] - $65.00 : Malkoff Devices. Super bright, powerful LED modifications for flashlights, Super bright, powerful LED modifications for flashlights

I have a tab welded straight to a tube, you'll see tomorrow when I post pics.

I could do an AA mount next to the D Cell light, would juts have to find the right size tubing.

I made the first one tonight and I am very happy with it. Paint is drying and I'll be finishing it up and taking pictures tomorrow.

I am surprised that in 12 pages of posts that no one has mentioned "quick fist clamps." They come in multiple sizes and are made of heavy duty rubber. They work great for this and other applications. I have my flashlight mounted on the floor between the driver seat and door. These hold the flashlight very tight even without the straps closed and will not break like the Maglight mounts are prone to do. I could post a link for them, but won't since none of the vendors that I have used are sponsors. A quick google for "quick fist clamps" should help you find them without too much effort.

Those rubber clamps are pretty cool and do work very well. It is a great alternative to the plastic mag light clips and I have had one break on me so I know what you mean about them being prone to breaking. The only thing with those compared to mine is that you have to have a long enough flat spot (just like the mag light clips) to mount it. I like the mounts I have because they go in wasted space under the seats.

Good luck with your mounts, it looks to be a good design. Anybody that owns a Ranger knows that there is very little free room available. Anything that you can do to maximize space is a plus.

May as well bring this back up, I found a Full set at Wholesale sports today, comes with a carger, mount and rechargable battery. Neat little get-up. Also uses led's now, 180 lumens I think, decent for a 4cell size.
$80 though.

Back to the original discussion. Just received both Mag Light mounts from Alon.

Have tried all kinds and they all ultimately break or lose their grip creating a "Mag Missile" in the cab.

His work great and look like factory installed once under the seat. (Nice clean weld and paint) Built like a brick out house. Figure I have a lateral tow hook under my seat as a bonus :)

Thanks Alon, Dave

PS Alon I tried to PM you but you seem to be DND so I thanked you this way
