Ford rules SAS thread

Okay so my plans are get a full width d-44 front axle, 4in lift coils from bronco graveyard, extend the radius arms about a foot (will see when the time comes), 7* caster bushings, custom shock/coil hoops like zach's and rangerervs, 4.88 gears open front powerlock back, Rear end is a 1970 ford d60 gonna do disk brakes and 4.88's and powerlock. What are you guys all running for rear leaves and how do you like your setup? I was just gonna get 4in lift ranger leafs and leave the stock block. Any opinions or suggestions good/bad are appreciated.
I also am still looking for a front d-44 half ton from 76-79 f-150's or 78-79 bronco's if any has one located close to MI let me know.
Thanks
Rob

What is the spline count on the rear axle shafts? If it truly did come out of a 70 F250 it should have coarse 16 spline shafts.

I would STRONGLY suggest locking at least the rear axle. The Powerlock is not a very good limited slip and leaving the front open is really gonna suck when you try to go off-road. Buy a set of Lockrights or Aussie lockers, better yet, weld the front or back if you don't have any $$.

I would suggest 4* bushings for the front. 7* bushings will most likely give you too much caster.

Yup it is a 70's its got the 16 spline shafts Im prollay gonna weld the front since i will be able to unlock the hubs on the street. I dont have the money to lock the rear yet but i can do it later when i save some more $$$ Ive got about 1700 bucks to play with right now.
Also does anyone know if the earlier dana 60's were about 1inch shorter on each side than the the newer ones. The shafts that were in the axle were both snapped, i have some shafts down in the barn that are 16 spline but are about 1in longer.

Change the side gears out and you can convert over to 30 spline axle shafts.....

I might be interested in the hubs if they are the factory hubs and they work good how much for the hubs and how much for the calipers and are the calipers new?

That D44 isn't from a 78 it's from a 76 or 77. 78-79 had cast wedges, those are weld on wedges.
