I got me some brand new calipers with pads and an extra set of pads for free. cant beat that.




Here are my hubs all disassbled. prolly going to clean that aluminum up some before reinstall and some new bearings.

 

new bearings?? are you kidding?? those look like they were just packed w/ fresh grease!!! Especially that bottom one. Extra fresh and clean!!

I traded those calipers in and got my Ford Calipers rebuilt.

Chevys are the single piston for the rear and Fords are the gray ones with dual pistons for the front.

yeah like 200$ in calipers right there plus pads... wont be buying much for a while now.

 

god damn, My waggy calipers were 18 dollars each.

 

yeah those ford calipers cost me 60 each for a rebuild. but that is a complete overhaul on the them not just remans. everything was replaced and tested.

i just want to stop, last time i went trail ridding i could barely stop going down the hills and that was with 35s. 37s are even heavier..

 

i second andrew! not sure of the pricing on mine, but i'd dish out 120 for a set of dual piston front's!

now 60 each for rebuilts.. what was their base cost and where'd you pick 'em up? the singles look as clean as mine were from complete offroad. them duals look really good though Zach

those duals are pictured above, paid 85 bucks for both axles and took those rusty locked up dual pistons and he rebuilt and cleaned them up and tested them. 60 each isnt too bad and that came with new hardware too.

oh i only paid 20 each for those chevy single piston calipers.

 

you might want to look and see if you can get drilled and/or slotted rotors. i'm amazed at how i can stop myself w/38's (and single calipers up front).. mine being on leafs, with that last 'ooomph' as i stop, my truck rocks slightly forward before settling back

i figure you have plans to upgrade your brake booster for all of that?

 

I would imagine it will be needed, but right now I dont know what I will have to do so I am just going to install it and see how it works.

 

came with wheels and tires too. he just wanted scrap price for it.

 

What kind of disc setup are you going to be running in back? And is it going on your 8.8 or a 9"?

Just curious because I'm really thinking about brakes systems on mine right now and I can't decide if I want to fiddle with rear discs yet.

 

I am running those chevy k20 calipers with weld on brackets and 12" Chevy 8 lug k20 rotors.

This will all be running on my FF D60

 

What type of upgraded booster are you guys running for larger tires? Mine could be replaced and i would love to get something with better vacuum than the stock one for better braking.

 

You wont really notice a difference till you go to bigger brakes. A bigger booster is needed because the stock booster usually isnt big enough to push the piston on 3/4-1 ton brakes.

 

Have any info on running bigger boosters with the ranger?
