I had the B bars (weird that an FX4 would have B) Mine's a 2008. We put the 2008, 2003, and 1999 keys all on top of each other and they all looked exactly the same and had the exact rubbing marks from the bars

I could be totally wrong and someone please correct me if I am. I thought the FX4 was taller suspension wise than say my '08 sport, so it would seem to me that you may have already had the slightly higher clocked keys? So perhaps that is the reason you saw no difference in the keys as you mentioned.

Here are two pictures of stock height...

Only thing I ordered different with this Ranger was the upgraded shocks and class three towing package.

It's kinda hard to see, but that's my dad's 98 Ranger 4x4 Off road (same sized tires and no t-bar crank). And his is about 3in higher.

no just 16s and bigger tires make it appear taller...

i looked at mine for about an hour thinking they where the same because the clocking is so suttle.........but since I had one off already i went in put the new one (older style in) and it gave me lift......I measured everything before i started on lvl ground.....ie gap height........ground to top of fender height etc...even the TB adjust screws........15mm driver side 21mm passanger side

if u notice the AE i think that is the pre 08 ones my old ones had AA but besides that the numbers where same

Paul, do you have a picture of your 2008 keys? Like a close up? I can't see too well from Dallis' keys, but I was thinking one can judge the clocking by the line running down the key? Dallis' 2009 key looks like the point of the hex is even with the line, as where the one you have is just below/above the line.

hmmm......I'll go take a pic of the set of '98 keys i've got in my toolbox right now. Doesn't take many degrees of clocking to make a huge difference in load on the bar...turn where the bar mounts a little bit in the key, use the same holes in the lower control arms, you'll change the mount of twist on the lower arms, creating lift or lower.

I think it's so slight, that it's hard to tell...but in reality, i'm looking at where that mold line goes across the hole, and seeing the corner of the 6 point being in a different orientation in relation to that mold line.

getting pic atm....

I was thinking the same thing when I put mine in. I thought it was going to be a total waste since the keys looked identical...lol. it is hard to tell the difference, but like Shane said, look at the seam from the molding in relation to the hole and you can see it is at a slightly different angle.

I found this today. LINKY I did a search for keys (they call them "adjusters") for a 2005 the site only listed them for 98-07. I am not sure if it's significant but when I did the same search for the same part for '08 it said "No items were found in this category".

the numbers above with the ae or aa arenot the ones i have listed from the beginning of this thread. the two numbers i have saved are f57775b328b and 8l57b328a. unless whoever posted the numbers at the beginning of the thread, forgot some numbers/letters.

edt: could there be more then one set of keys like the bars? different models got different keys? 2wd xlts got one 4wd xlts got a different one. 2wd sports from 4wd sports and so on....

Got them from local Ford dealership

98.10 each so with taxes it came to 221.75 for both ......

no charge for shipping from Dealerships........but they had to Special order it since they dont stock that item and it came from the US warehouse . I went in the other day to shwo the guy how it came out and he says hes order 2 more sets for people hes told about it since i first let him know lol.......

maybe they should switch it back in the 2010 rangers
