So to change these all I have to do is lift the keys to take tension off the bolt. Remove the bolt, lower the jack (since I don't have a C clamp), and the TB will pop out? Seems simple enough.

We should organize a meet sometime around Kingston, since it's kind of in the middle of of this section.

Back to topic. The keys I was looking at was a no go, shipping was 80$US lol

Yea that would be sick, only thing is there isnt a whole lot of things to do ( bars and such) but maybe thats just because i live here haha.

Would be sick to get a few trucks out, id be down for that.

Why dont you phone the wreckers? i mean i got mine for 75 each with the bars, and they wanted i think it was 25 bucks per key.....just a thought ( thats with them puling them and having them ready when i arrived)

Got Marie's PreKey mod done. My 2 jaw puller crapped out on me when installing the first sides new key. So....did it the easy way imo: unbolted top balljoint from the knuckle, unbolted the sway bar end link, unbolted the top shock mount, and that gave me PLENTY of downtravel to twist the bar enough to allow the installation of the threaded block that keeps the key in place. NO SPECIAL TOOLS NEEDED!! Only tools needed: 13mm, 15mm, 18mm and I think thats it. The second side I did all this method I just mentioned, and it only took about an hour using all handtools. Her truck started out already semi cranked, so I didn't want to put much more preload on the adjustment bolts...got 1.5" out of it. Makes the truck pretty dang level with the rear kept stock. I've got all measurements written down, just gotta go to my truck for them...and well...i'm just bein' lazy. lol.

Just a heads up.

Look for a link in this thread to a Torsion bar swap, torsion key swap, PreKey mod how-to in the next coming days.

Before:

After (torsion bars have settled via 60min or so test drive):

That reply is worthy of the 'epic' title I do believe.

the bars will settle some more after they are driven around a few days. Miine were around 33 7/8 to the bottom of the front flare when we finished, and i measured today and it dropped to 33 3/4. So be aware of that too. considering i was 32 ** when i started, its an improvement for sure.

Putting these in the front alone levels out the truck a ton. the back end is 'only' an inch higher than the front after you are done so you still have some sag allowed for when you have to use the bed. it just looks a ton better.

^^Yeah. I don't like seeing people jack their trucks up, crank their bars, lower the truck, then measure and say how much gain they got.....when you unload the bars, then put load back on them, they'll take a little drive to actually settle back down to their normal ride height. I love how tall my truck is after I set it back down on her feet. Then a couple hours later, sadly disappointed. lol.

Wow Shane that turned out good!! Love this mod, it should be one of the very first for 08+ Ranger owners.

I bet Marie will get even more compliments now, does she notice a diffrence? I know I could personally feel the diffrence when i did it, i know 1.5 inches doesnt sound like alot, but holy cow i love it lol

Did you also upgrade the bars? ( im guessing they were/are B bars)

I think it made a huge difference in 'the look' department. Yes...only 1.5", but it is pretty good and very worth it....all 08 owners need to do this.

When she first got in the truck, she couldn't really tell a difference because she was driving my truck for the day...but as soon as she drove her truck, she could tell she was looking higher, hoodline taller, and felt taller.

I left the B bars in the truck. I know she feels it rides kinda rough now, but it's her city's streets...and I didn't want to make it even rougher by adding #1 bars.

She loves the stance it has now....so much that she's wanting to upgrade tire size!

Pretty much... I still don't really feel a difference... I don't feel like I'm nose first into the ground but that's about it... and honestly I don't like the fender gap... I liked the stuffed/lack of gap look before... but at the end of the day I'm just happy to finally be "stock" height... +BL..... haha

Marie....you were raped of height from the factory! In fact, ALL '08+ torsion bar trucks got screwed! Just glad we all figured it out to make it all proper.

I love how level her truck is now..looks awesome and IMO....it's perfect height and stance wise....and it's still hella fast compared to mine! lol!

i was at the dealer today and he could order the keys from a 03. they would be coming from the states and would cost about $100 each. i told im i'd think about it. i don't think he realizes it's for my truck. i ask for 03 keys and he went to grab the invoice for mine outta my hand. he's like "is this for this truck?" he left my invoice with me and came back from the other computer to show me and make sure he had the right part #. i remember some of the number, it was the 572-5 one i think.
i kno that $100 is marked up from the $84 price howells or someone gave. i'm guessing its some sort of shipping costs or delivery

Clark...there's gotta be junkyards in your area. How far are you from the border? I'm sure there's something in a city somewhere around you. If I get around to pulling keys again since I've gotten failed at yards recently, I plan on finding out about of Explorer keys are the same. If so, I can most definately rob expo keys by the half dozen.

Wait it out bro...I'll hook you up.
