Hey gang, does anyone happen to know what size the Heim is in the lower mount on the fox coilovers? Can't seem to find dimesions anywhere. Trying to order a better one as these only lasted 2 years

 

Really? A lot of hard 4wheeling? I have almost 40k on mine and the plow hanging off the front for 2-3k and they are still good.

 

Yeah, 30,000 miles of hard offroad over the last 2 years. This last summer I went through 2 sets of upper control arms, 6 sets of inner tie rods and both front wheel bearings. The units in there from fox are only rated to 20,000 psi. I can get an aurora unit that is rated to 40,000 psi for like 30 bucks each, just need some measurements off it. I just dont want to pull my front end back apart if I dont have to.

 

Measuring the original eye from mine (FOX 2.0 6.5" stroke 5/8" Shaft) and going off FOX's data sheet; The heim is a -10, O.D.:1.00" X 0.50" thick with a 0.50" I.D.

 

My man! Do you have a link to that data sheet? I found the one showing all the different eyelets, but didnt see anything beyond just the -8 and -10 notations

 

2133 Posts, I cant read them all BUT, can someone summarize what is happening with the Coil-Over Front Suspension ?

I purchased mine a while back and had it installed with my SuperLift lift kit, approximately 5 years ago and from what I can see the brackets that JM made are holding up well.

The truck was immediately more stable in corners, the ride was as good if not better; I didn't get Powder Coated Pieces but the brackets look stock.

So, I am wondering what has been done, what changes were made to the Brackets of 5 years back, and is the new kit any better ?

Also, there was an Off-Road Supplier, not sure who it was, they used the bracket from JM and added in the appropriate Coil-Over Shocks and made a kit. They also sold the Shocks separately fo rush that had the Brackets already.
My shocks were just rebuilt, probably could have been done a year or so back but I got almost 5 years out of them; sounds good to me !

Spplease someone tell me where this CoilOver Package stands ?

The "catalog" (https://www.ridefox.com/dl/offroad/f...2015-lores.pdf) is where I found the Heim measurement . I actually measured my original eyelets (stubby ones that came with the shocks) to get the other measurements. However, googling " Fox shock heim joint" led me to a couple of retailers confirming the size. Here's one of the sellers; 2.0 Fox Replacement Fk 1/2 Inch Stainless Uniball .500 Bolt Size 1.00 Outside Diameter .500 Height. It seems FOX uses the same joint for most of the shocks (i'm waiting for the help desk to confirm).

 

I cooked 2 sets of bushing in 10K when I had my superlift and coilovers. I actually cut my lower tabs off, welded in new ones at a wider 1.5in spacing and ran bushings. this helped with wear and quited the front end down a bit.

 

So you cut the tabs off the lower control arm mounting bracket?

yes, I swapped to bushings and that required the tabs be 1.5' spacing not 1.25'

they still wore but not nearly as bad, and they are way quieter.

 

Guys, I do still make these, but I just got word from the fabricator that my cost is going up a little, so here is the latest pricing:

Pricing:

Kit includes:
4 brackets (2 upper, 2 lower)
4 gussets to reinforce shock tower
2 shock tower spacers for upper mounts
8 rod end spacers (for 1/2" wide rod ends--like Fox)
All hardware to install--grade 8 zinc plated

What else you will need:
2 coilover shocks
2 coil springs
2 limit straps and brackets (do NOT skip these!)

What you may need:
Bump stops if you are lifting your truck at the same time, but if you already have a Superlift, or if you are remaining at stock height, you can reuse what you have. You simply need to trim back the bracket on the frame where the bump stop mounts, so that the coilover will clear it. You then redrill a hole in the remaining part of the bracket and mount the bump stop further in. Depending on your bumpstop, you may want to have a tab welded onto your LCA to give you a flatter area for the bump stop to contact. I would suggest moving the bump stop before you have the gussets welded, so you can have this done at the same time.
