Okay, thanks. So that brings up my next question of are there any UCAs available that will give us more room?

Negative. In order for you to achieve "more room" with the UCA, you would have to extend the control arm outward. Resulting in a relocation of the ball joint. Therefore, a misalignment to the steering knuckle. The only way to achieve your theory would be to go with a long travel suspension system. One way of doing so would be to literally cutting and extending outward the upper and lower control arms through fabrication.

I see that you live in Southen Cali? I could possibly assist you further with your project if you'd like. PM me if you'd like to know more.

I ordered my coil overs this morning from DSM. If anyone else bought their coilovers from here they had me send them an email with my billing shipping card number etc. is this standard procedure?

Does anybody have any experience with the BTF UCAs and whether they provide more clearance with the coil over? im going to try to go as high as i can with the preload on the coilovers and am worried about damaging the UCA and the coilover. Thanks

You cant go longer with the shock. I have the stockbheight setup with fox coilovers without the extended eyelets. And u cant gain hardly anything with a different uca unless u go wider. Theyre all gonna have the ball joint the same distance out from the frame. To keep the wheel straight up and down. If you go wider you have to do lca and uca and cv shafts. I was told 2006 explorers have the exact same cv shafts except theyre 2 1/2 inches longer. You coild use those and get some wider control arms.

im actually running 2wd so id just need the control arms. my biggest concern is sitting level with the back end like i do with the t bar crank. trying to get as high as i can within reason.

If I'm not mistaken, you'll be able to get the same ~1-2" adjustment out of the coil over as you would the tbars.

Any more than that and the ball joint angles would be hideous anyway.

Yup he is correct. My 4wd site just as high as t bars cranked. I dont run mine all the way up unless u want to buy new balljoints constantly. Like he said, rangers have horible control arm angles on the ball joint. If you have no lift you cant go more than the 5 inch travel fox coilover. With no extended eyelet. The only way you could use a little longer shock would be to put shock hoops on so that the mounting point of the top of the shock is higher. When i cycle my suspension i cant quite fully extend the shock because the coil hits the upper control arm. Its almost extended all the way. Limit straps stretch to a little. When i cycle it up the shock compesses befor the tire hits anything. Thats why i was thinking of putting a shock hoop on and a 6 1/2 inch travel shock cuz their is room for the wheel to go up a ways further. Im talking fox shocks. A different brand shock with the same travel could have different compressed and extended lengths.

2wd

I got my shocks without the extended eyelet. but im concerned that the shock will be too short. if the extended eyelet is 4.88 in long wont that bring my LCA up by that much as the shock will not extend anymore?

sorry I didn't see youre post last week. ya ill post a pic when I get home. I have no lift at all and I have 31x10.5x15 tires and they don't come close to rubbing. Me and another guy did the coilover conversion at the same time and both of us put the shocks on with the extended eyelet and the shock is so long it is almost compressed all the way at ride height so it leaves no room left for any up travel when you hit bumps.

I am running 285s on my truck(on stock wheels w 2" spacer) along with a 3" body lift. There is no way I would be running the long eyes, NO room for compression

So far 9,000 miles on the set up and I am very pleased

Man this deployment money is burning a hole in my pocket. Just picked up the 4 inch maxtrac spindles that ill put on at the same time as the coil-over conversion. Since im in there what other components should i replace? Bearings, etc? also i cant find where someone said they put on the jeep brake lines but i cant find the post that said which ones. thanks guys this has been a very helpful thread.

yeah. its stated 4 inch lift but ive heard you get a little over 3 inches from it. I figure this is the smarter and "right" way to get the ride height i want and still get the most out of my coil-overs. it also comes with shackles for the rear end. im not sure if i need the brake lines or not but i figure i might as well be safe and change them out.

ya you probably will need the brake lines. the front lines are pretty dang short. the ones I bought are for a 4 inch lift. I think they could even handle a little more lift. I aint home yet, when I get their ill definitely pm you the part numbers.

Ok so long story short, Ive had my ranger for some time now and I'm at college. I ran into a guy on instagram a few days ago and was talking to him about the idea of converting to coil-overs via "ME00stepside" brackets. right now I'm sitting at a really good height, perfect for my tires etc etc. Im running right now I'm running a leveling key kit up front and just some upgraded shocks for front suspension "lift" and i am satisfied with the ride height. However I would love to ditch the t bars, that being said if I were to go this route; is it possible to retain the current suspension "height" with the coilers? or will they only either work with stock height or with a super lift etc. I think that makes sense and Im hoping someone will know.
Kyle

You want the 5 inch travel fox and do not get the extended eyelets.
