Sometimes, it's the little things that make a difference. Maybe not a huge difference, but still noticeable! Installed new license plate lamp housings as the factory ones were cloudy and yellowed.

Factory on the left, new Dorman 68169 on the right.

New to the forum

Hey guys, Long time lurker first time post. Have a 2006 Sport Ranger 4.0 4X2 that use to belonged to my father in-law which he bought new. Been bothering him for year to let me buy it off him. Truck was plan jane with only 73K when he finally agreed to sale it to me. Since than i've been reading up on here of all the Mods and upgrade to make it my own ranger. But before i could start I had to take care of all the maintenance first. Tune-up, fuel filter, new fuel pump, rack n pinion, New thermostat housing and stat. Now for the upgrades. Didn't like the low stance so a lift was in order. After so search here found the spindle drop will do the trick. Picked up a 4" spindle drop and a 2" belltech shackles. New shocks on all four corners. Wheels are Pro comp 69 15x10 with Falken wildpeak 33x12.5. Had to use 2" wheel spacer on the rear to match to fronts.

Also added the front tow hooks to complete to look. Removed all the ranger emblems and painted the the black Ranger name in red to match the red Sport decal on the bed. After that the Mods began.
This truck did not come with the cargo light on the third brake light. So some more searching here found the mod for both cargo light and mustang dome light. Which lead to the OHC and explore sun visor.
Also replaced the headliner in black.

Radio need to go as well as the speakers. 7" touch with all the options as well as front & rear camera. Speaker are 4 Kicker. Since i don't
smoke, i added the factory ash tray delete. Below that you can see the USB hub that tie in to the radio.

Now i didn't like how the back up camera is mounted on some the searches i did. I wanted to look factory installed. Since the new Ford have the camera on the ford emblem, i knew there had to be an after market one.
Found just what i was looking for and with some modifications to the tail gate, (cutting was required to get it right.) It came out great.

She done for now, ( Yeah right ) 80K on the clock since i bought it and loving the little truck.

Even though the dashcam I put up on my windshield can accept a rear camera, I opted not to get one. Two reasons: 1. the rear camera is 'only' 1080p and 2. I'd have to decide which quarter of the front-facing camera's video would be sacrificed to inlay the rear cam's video (think picture-in-a-picture). No matter which corner I chose, that would be the one that would be critical should I need to actually use the video recordings in a case that might cost me moo-koo-bucks.

So I just bought another Viofo 129Pro and stuck it in the back window of my topper. I had to run power from the fusebox back to a 12v-to-5v converter to run it, but that's nothing compared to the potential of "Well, I can't prove it 'cuz may two-camera system didn't record that part of the scene".

I had to cut out a circle of the window mesh I had installed earlier this year to give it a clear view. I tried it with the tint in place, and it did OK during the day but lost far too much resolution in low light. So a small disk, a Sharpie and a hobby knife took care of that issue.

Now I have 4k recording out the rear window of the topper (up high, on the drivers side).

Haven't been in one since '79. But I've recorded plenty of them... some of my vids have ended up in court cases.

Project II for today... tie my back-up lights to my puddles lights and DRLs I've installed. So when it's dark out, I pull out the fob to unlock the door(s)....

One press of the "unlock" activates the drivers' door lock to unlock, plus turns on the dome light.

Second press of the fob unlocks the passenger door... then a third press of the fob turns on the DRLs, puddle lights as well as the back-up lights.

You should do a write up on how you installed this. I would love to have that on my truck. My interior and cargo light come on when i unluck the drivers door from the factory, so would like to do the other stuff like yours.
Thanks for posting and Great work...

The biggest issue is they aren't factory DRLs and puddle lights. I've got posts about putting those in.

Installed the Mustang dome/map light, so much nicer! Cover was sitting in soapy water bath in this photo, but it's on now. And no painting was required :)

Been having issues with the passenger side taillight assembly collecting water. I'd pull it off, take out the lamps, let it set out in the sun until it's dried out inside... yet the next morning (with no rain) there'd be a spoonful of water in it. It's been going on so long the reflectors were starting to delaminate.

So, it's time for new assemblies!

Replaced the driver's side lower seat cover this weekend. It was definitely in need. Feels good to know the new cover isn't held together with duct tape.

Worked for the last seven years since I put these seats in. lol. Started with one piece, and slowly turned into more.

I did have to repair one of the wires beneath the foam, and for that I went overkill with an old coat hanger because it was on the edge that sees the most wear, and I figure a thicker wire won't hurt there. I also had to add some foam to build back a section of the bolstering that had flattened. Both of those modifications worked like a charm.

Rear Turn Signal socket

A week ago I went to change my left rear turn signal bulb …3156…when I removed the tail light on the left side the turn signal socket was gone…I keep my truck locked up and the canopy locks locked…a month or so ago I had an issue with that signal not functioning, so I changed to bulb and still nothing…I left the socket connected and not installed in the lens, it was dangling…someone stole the socket…they must’ve reached under the truck and took the socket, I know this sounds far fetched but there’s no way in hell it just came unlugged from the wiring, it’s a tight snap….so I went to rock auto and ordered a new socket, it arrived but was the wrong one, they sent the one that’s for the front signals….I checked O’Reilly Auto Parts, they have the exact same one…rock auto’s price was 4.95 while O’Reilly was 21.00 buck, SAME exact part and number…I’ve read on this forum that you can modify the socket/wiring to a two bulb thing…not going to happen…so..I went to aFord dealer and ordered a new socket…

Yup, people steal stuff. My pal's boat trailer plug magically vanished...parked behind his barn well out of sight of the road.

Added a DeeZee tailgate assist (DeeZee # DZ43202) to my 09 DD. Had to modify the part that attaches to the bed, but was able to make it work as it should.

Which part did you have to mod? The piece that attaches to the strap?

Two tractor tires filled with anti-freeze. At least it was only a short drive home. Who needs suspension anyway?
