You mount the tires yourself or did you have it done?

Just curious cause I was out fighting with trying to mount mine today.

 

i paid a local shop 20 bucks to mount them, figured it was worth the hassle. lol i did try though, just didnt want to trash up the aluminum wheel

Wish I could do that. Most shops won't touch mine because I want to do the Staun's as well. Only shop I found that was willing to do Staun's wanted $95.00 a wheel to do mounting. All Stauns are is you drill an extra valve stem hole, mount the 1st bead, and before you mount the 2nd bead you put a liner and a tube in.

I almost choked when he quoted me that.

Anyway, wheels are looking real good. Can't wait to see it done.

 

so you are running a tube too? interesting. im sure the guys here will do it.

you need to find a mom and pop shop for tires out in the country

 

anything above a 33" tire is a pita to mount, i really don't blame them for wanting so much.

Yeah... essentially Staun Beadlocks are just small tires inside your large tire. You fill that with more pressure then your tire (usually like 50 psi) and it pushes and holds the beads in place. Very cool design. I hadn't seen any one running them so I figured I'd give them a go.

But enough about my troubles with mounting tires in your project log. Sorry for the spam.

Yep there are a few people on here running them. I just love the looks and sound. I hear they perform well too. Not sure how much I will like the 10ply tho. Kinda forgot about that when I got them. Oh well.

I hate to clutter this up with more talk about the stauns, but when you air up the staun, that should set the bead for the tire onto the rim. You don't need to have them professionally mounted, the staun will do it for you.

 

Yeah... but you still have to get the damn tire onto the rim!

Haha... that and I was having trouble fitting the Staun itself onto the rim. Not really sure what I was doing wrong, but the instructional video they send with it makes it look like it just slides over. I'll hopefully figure out, but we'll see.
