yeah i have the gaint 64 kit, which are a deaver pack. its a pretty heavy spring,so you need a lot of crap in back to ride nice. but that's good if you plan to run tool box, spares, battery, jack, fuel cell etc.

Aside from the motor, is it mostly cleanup work?

for right now just a rebuild and throw it back in, maybe a cam or something minor. Just cause i don't want to be working right up to the day..I'm sick of doing that. I want to be done and packed and ready like 2 weeks out. At that I may even just get everything all sound and clean, and beat the motor up how it is and see what happens :)

Since you have it apart, might as well do something to it.
A cam wouldn't be something too crazy.

yeah I figure as long as its apart, that and some rockers. I really need to build up another tranny with a better ratio, and a slap shifter. The 4r70w I have is just too long in second and looses power up the big dunes and then downshifts hard once its too late. and first is waaay short, so could really go up in just that. The motor wanted to go go go..but the tranny just bogged it down

it would be fun,but puting it in not so much. plus i could make an auto just as fun and faster with a manual valve body and good shift kit and a ratchet shifter

Got a little more work done today. Got the rear axle off, dropped the stock tank and started cleaning up some of the junk. I had a hell of a time getting the bolts out of the bushing in the leaf hangers/shackles. the bolts siezed to the metal liners, and I had to grind one bolt off and took like and hour of pounding to get the others out. The two in the front hangers I still can't get out. So I'll be buying a few new bolts and bushings

Plan is to box in some of the rear frame and add some more crossmembers and gussets here and there, while I got it gutted. And I think I've decided on a fuel cell

the good ole gas tank skid

yeah no kidding, the u-bolts are gonna need to be cut off too.or maybe i can get them loose with a torch.

yeah i was gonna ask if anyone wanted it. it needs to be cleaned up good, so I'd give it to ya for whatever i can get it shipped for. my biggest concern would be how well the bracket arms would last in shipping.
